Larrakia can bring in Bellamack blocks on time

The first housing blocks from the new Bellamack sub division can be turned off during 2009, according to the Board of the Larrakia Development Corporation.

The Aboriginal owned corporation is the local partner in a national consortium which was named last month by Planning and Infrastructure Minister Delia Lawrie as the selected developer of the 700-block Bellamack sub division.

The consortium of Macquarie Group's Urban Pacific Limited and Brierty Limited, of Perth will establish new offices in Darwin.

Mr. Greg Constantine, the Chief Executive Officer of the Larrakia Development Corporation, says the organisation's corporate knowledge of local conditions, from weather to planning processes, will allow the interstate partners to hit the ground running in Bellamack.

"As successful developers of the Darla subdivision, the Larrakia Development Corporation knows the pit falls which can make a major project run behind schedule," Mr Constantine said.

"The NT Government and the consortium know there must be no delays in developing Bellamack, as too many first home buyers are waiting for the turn-off of building blocks".

"The Corporation can handle to the physical challenge, as we have everything from the provision of basic services, through home building to landscaping available through our subsidiaries, Larrakia Environmental Services, Saltwater Constructions, Larrakia Homes and the Larrakia Turf Farm".

"We also have the intellectual capital needed for this scale of project, such as the ability to carry out due diligence and reference checks on sub contractors," Mr. Constantine said.
