Larrakia Trade Training Centre Now Open

Larrakia Trade Training Centre Front The Larrakia Trade Training Centre opened its doors in February 2011. The Centre, a joint venture between the Corporation, Advanced Training International Inc (ATI) and Kormilda College has been built at Berrimah, on land owned by the Corporation near Darwin’s East Arm Port.

Gas giant, INPEX endorsed its support for this initiative by becoming the Centre’s major financial supporter. This action heralded a significant, legacy contribution by INPEX and assisted in addressing the looming skills shortage Darwin faces when construction of the proposed gas facility commences in 2012.

Bellamack Landscaping

Fresh from completing major landscaping projects on the extension to Tiger Brennan Drive, Larrakia Environmental Services have won a new contract on Stage Three of the Bellamack sub division.

The Larrakia Development Corporation negotiated the contract with WA-based Brierty Corporation, the lead developer for Bellamack who are working with Clouston, landscape architecture, planning and urban design specialists.

The head of Larrakia Environmental Services, Paul Albano, will lead an eight-person team on the Bellamack project. It includes all landscaping works, public gardens and the garden-based entry statement to the sub division.

The Bellamack job is another work-win for Larrakia Environmental Services, which has completed urban beautification projects for Defence Housing Australia at the Lyons sub-division, and the newly completed Larrakia Trade Training Centre at East Arm Port.

 

Medina Vibe

In early December 2009, the Larrakia Development Corporation purchased a 50% share of the Vibe and Medina Grand Darwin Waterfront Hotels, in conjunction with Indigenous Business Australia (IBA).

The hotels, which were built by the Toga Group, performed strongly in 2010 and have been recognised for their premium dining and accommodation facilities. Overlooking the Waterfront wave pool and saltwater beach, they are linked to Darwin’s CBD by a new walkway and lifts, which give access from the city centre to the Waterfront.

Jape Homemaker Development

In February 2011 Larrakia Development Corporation won a competitive tender to build stage 6 of the Homemaker Village at Millner for the Jape Group.

The scope of works includes responsibility for all works from the ground up- from earthworks to the final fit out that will include several new retail stores as well as the expansion of some high profile, bulky goods outlets.

This will be the first high- end retail project for the Corporation and an expansion of its constriction capabilities that complements its approach to innovation and excellence, acknowledged through numerous industry awards and accreditations.

The Homemaker Village Development is at the high end of Darwin’s retail market and will provide enormous opportunity for the Corporation to further develop their skills and capacity.

 

CDU Palmerston Property Development

Larrakia Development Corporation is now in a joint venture to develop a quality housing estate on the Charles Darwin University (CDU) campus at Palmerston.

A formal contract was signed by the CEO of the Larrakia Development Corporation, Mr Greg Constantine, Mr Geoff Smith of CIC and the Chancellor of the Charles Darwin University, former Supreme Court Justice, Sally Thomas in December 2010.
