In line with its commitment to serve and benefit all Larrakia, the Larrakia Development Corporation’s Distribution Policy was introduced in 2006 devoting a proportion of the Corporation’s profits to Larrakia for the payment of funeral funds, scholarships, first home buyers, business start up costs, utility service costs for senior Larrakia and many other services, while the remainder is reinvested into other business ventures.

The Larrakia Development Corporation also has a sponsorship program managed under the auspices of the Distribution Policy. These sponsorships include a range of activities that include sporting clubs, crime stoppers, theatre groups, school breakfasts and a range of community-based projects.
Definition of Larrakia
A Larrakia person is defined as being a descendant of a known Larrakia ancestor and a member of one of the Larrakia Families named and listed in the Kenbi Land Claim decision by the then Land Commissioner, Justice Gray. Proof of identification must be supplied

- All payments are subject to the approval of the Larrakia Development Corporation CEO and at least one Board member.
- The Larrakia Development Corporation application form must be completed and returned to the office before any funds can be processed.
Distribution Policy
Funeral Expenses
The Larrakia Development Corporation Funeral Benefit is a one off payment towards the funeral costs of Larrakia. The maximum payment available is $5,000 per funeral, which will be paid directly to the funeral home, after the death has been confirmed by the Larrakia family. Applications for deceased persons who are not Larrakia, but who are the spouse of a Larrakia person, or the parent or step-parent of a Larrakia person, will be assessed by the Larrakia Development Corporation on a case by case basis.
The Larrakia Development Corporation Funeral Benefit is a one-off payment towards the funeral costs of Larrakia.
Scholarships
Larrakia Development Corporation Scholarships may be offered to Larrakia on receipt of a successful application for a tertiary qualification such as medicine, teaching or a trade. The qualification must be approved by the Larrakia Development Corporation Board and payment will be made annually, only when the student has passed for the year. The maximum payment is $5000 per year
Utility expenses
The Larrakia Development Corporation will pay a maximum of $250 per quarter during the calendar year, directly to a service provider, upon receipt of an original invoice for the following expenses: Council rates, phone bills, electricity/sewage/water bills, and MVR vehicle registration. Applicants are to provide proof that invoices are registered in their name. Requests will be considered from any married or legally de facto Larrakia person or couple over 60 years of age. Unused funds from previous quarters do not accrue.
Larrakia First Home Buyers – Deposit Fund
The Larrakia Development Corporation may assist Larrakia to purchase their first home on Larrakia land, with a one off payment of $2500 per family.
A written request must be made to the Larrakia Development Corporation before settlement. Payment will be made directly to the property vendor at the time of settlement.
Small Business Fund
The Larrakia Development Corporation may assist new Larrakia businesses through the provision of a maximum $2000 payment towards business mentoring, or business set up. The payment is subject to a dollar for dollar contribution.
Confirmation of the Larrakia person’s $2000 outlay and a viable business plan must be presented to Larrakia Development Corporation before funds are released.
Larrakia Stories / Headstones
The Larrakia Development Corporation has recognised that families of deceased Larrakia should be able to submit a story about their family Elders and that upon receipt of that story, the Corporation will pay for the erection of a headstone at the deceased Elders grave site.
There is no age limit however the headstone must be erected in a cemetery on Larrakia Land. The Larrakia Development Corporation must also receive written consent to use the story as part of the history of the Larrakia.
